Hello.
I searched and asked and email and posted to numerous sites/shops but i never got a clear answer.
What kit(s) and additionals and programmers and clips should i buy to downgrade all NOR and NAND models solderless?
I read about 360clip, infectus (programmer), progskeet, e3flasher, teensy++, qsb's etc but i haven't try to figure out what exactly should i get.
Please answer in plain english nice and clear to order, thanks :))))

hi guys
@deank burn Scene again :biggrin:

Quote:

Contains modified source and PS3 executable "ps2classics.self". It can be used by any PS3 application to convert a regular disc PS2 ISO to ISO.BIN.ENC.

Can be used as easy as:

Code:

char* launchargv[8];
        memset(launchargv, 0, sizeof(launchargv));
        launchargv[0] = (char*)malloc( 2); strcpy(launchargv[0], "e");
        launchargv[1] = (char*)malloc( 4); strcpy(launchargv[1], "cex");
        launchargv[2] = (char*)malloc(i3); strcpy(launchargv[2], klc_path );
        launchargv[3] = (char*)malloc(i1); strcpy(launchargv[3], iso_path1);
        launchargv[4] = (char*)malloc(i2); strcpy(launchargv[4], iso_path2);
        launchargv[5] = (char*)malloc(12); strcpy(launchargv[5], "ISO.BIN.ENC");
        launchargv[6] = (char*)malloc(37); strcpy(launchargv[6], "2P0001-PS2U10000_00-0000111122223333");
        launchargv[7] = NULL;

        _Exitspawn(ps2classics, (char* const*)launchargv, NULL, NULL, 0, 1001, SYS_PROCESS_PRIMARY_STACK_SIZE_1M);

Where iso_path1 is the source iso, iso_path2 is the destination encrypted iso.bin.enc and klc_path is the path to the klicense.

I just tested it (launching a regular ISO in mM, it spawns the ps2classics.self and creates the encrypted ISO + a folder structure) - everything seems ok. It needs a nice progress bar, improved I/O by using async read/write and you're good to go. It doesn't support 4GB+ files, but properly adds missing info for CD ISO files.

Basically with mM you can dump your PS2 game disc, load it in the RETRO column, it will convert it to ps2classic in a minute or two and you can load it with ps2-classics-placeholder. I'll release a test mM later.

Corrupted BIOS

My son was flashing a PS3 Slim with an E3 Flasher. Unfortunately, he failed to check the backed up BIOS. I just downloaded and ran BWE's NOR Validator and this is what was displayed. We do have another PS3 Slim with a valid BIOS, but I think he needs the serial number from his unit to use that. Is he pretty much screwed or can this be fixed?

FTP Multiman Rogero and playing back-ups from internal HDD.

Hi. This is my first thread, so I am a noob and would first like to apologize for not being able to find the answer I am looking for and annoying you with my noobishness.

I have just acquired my first PS3. It is a slim model preloaded with Rogero cfw 4.30 and a 500gb internal hdd. I just got the newest version of Multiman cex loaded. a friend lended me his external hardrive preloaded with some backups. Multiman is able to play those fine, but I need to give the external Harddrive back.

My question is about loading backups from the internal Harddrive. I used my iMac to make a copy of a game and loaded it to the ps3 using an ftp client. I loaded it to hdd0/game. But when I load Multiman, it cannot find the game I transfered to the internal HDD.

I tried moving the game to another folder (hdd0/GAMES) using mmos, but when I did that it gave me two options. To convert it to ISO (tried but the ISO cannot be found or played through mm without cobra USB) or to make a shadow file. Both options do not help. Finally, I went back to the original file and found the eboot. I clicked that and it started to load. But I am looking for a process that I can load the game from internal HDD through the games function in Multiman.

Thank you if you have any useful information and sorry for the annoying noob question.

If you're using the SingStar replacement IPF to access Multiman Stealth and you're getting sick of the update prompt then you can install this updated version. No more update prompt.

PS3 bricked....Is this recoverable?

Story goes.....
Got a e3 Flasher and gave it a shot going along with the video instructions step by step.

The problem is after dumping and copying the nor dump to a safe location, I flipped all the switches to the down position for restore mode and flashed it back. I'm pretty sure that's where things got bad. Upon further research, I found other walkthroughs and tools that verify the nor dump file and while the video does mention checking the e3flasher.log file, it does not mention the dump can still be corrupt afterwards.

Using Flow Rebuilder, and the "Byte reverse and extract a NOR dump file option" gives me a "Operation completed with Errors" message. Further reading tells me that my dump is probably corrupted and I propbably reflashed the corrupted dump back to my PS3 over the good bios/firmware. Still further research tells me that while the dump may have been corrupt, it may still contain information that can be be used to generate a replacement bkpps3.bin file that I can use to unbrick my Ps3.

I should mention a few things as well.
1) It is a legitimate e3 Flasher.
2) Was running the latest OFW 4.40 and attempting to downgrade to 3.55
3) Model of PS3 is CECH2001A
4) The PS3 doesn't turn off automatically or output video. Blank screen only with no indication of receiving video at all. To turn it off, you literally have to flip the switch(the E3 Limited came with one) or unplug it.
5) I also do have a E3 Card Reader I ordered when I ordered my E3 Flasher Limited. I don't think I needed it but could this come in handy? the only references to it I can find refer to old firmware downgrades pre 3.55 but could this be used to get into service mode and accomplish something or re flash the PS3 with a patched backup?
4) I think there is something wrong with my e3 Flasher While using it to get a nor dump, I would get errors indicating connection issues. Applying pressure and/or messing with the e3 front panel seems to fix it though and this is how I got my "good" dump. ATM, it doesn't even allow me to dump anything from the PS3 and when I try to write the backup dump to the PS3, I get "10001111" which I don't know if that indicates a communication issue or if it's complaining about the corrupted dump. I have reseated connections and checked the cable and connections for broken pins etc and cannot find any visible damage.

Can someone please look over my dump file and tell me if this a permanent brick or if there is some way to salvage this?

Also, is there a way to run my e3 Flasher through some function that can help me troublshoot whether or not there is a problem other than trying to restore a corrupted bios/firmware?

My backup dump is available on Skydrive but I can't post links being a new member. I can email the log and dump file or provide links. If anyone can help, please contact me here or privately.

Any ideas on FTP?

I'm not very good at using FTP software(First time.) I'm getting kind of tired of grabbing my usb, plugging it into my pc, downloading it to the usb, then taking it to the ps3, then installing packages.

Is there any good FTP programs for the PS3 and PC which won't cause me a headache?

So i recently aquired a "used" psp from gamestop for the price of almost free!

now, i haven't had a psp since 5.50 gen-d3 was the newest firmware.

i got this 6.60 pro c on it, wich is a semi-permanent hack.

its one of those "unhackable" motherboards, but a friend told me that you can get those permanently hacked now, any ideas?

and some tips for plugins that work? all i have now is game categories and popsloader.

i really dont know, what can i do with these bad boys nowadays? only use it to play SNES once in a while :P

Codeunique + BD Mirror

Hi I have looked around and noone ever talks about this. How can I use Codeunique together with BD Mirror option? I know a lot of games (like Tomb Raider) need BD Mirror option to load. However, Codeunique doesn't have BD Mirror option to load. So how can I play games that need to load using BD Mirror Option together with cheats on Codeunique?

P.S. Thanks Gingerbread for compiling the cheatcode database!!

So, I'm new to the PS3 hacking/modding scene, I was majorly into the PSP hacking scene a long time ago, so I'm not a total noob, but I do have some questions as I came across a PS3 brand new in the box, and its FW is 3.01, and I want to know what is the best CFW that I could possibly put on that would keep the "install second OS" feature, but also let me play Downloaded/backed up games off the hard drive with out any stability Issues or chances of bricking the system.

Also if anyone can help me marry a New blu-ray dive to the PS3 as I got one I would like to use on the system as the one on it came with a dead Blu-ray drive.

[Guide] How to properly convert Final Fantasy XII: IZJS For ps2classics

$
0
0
I've seen alot of people wondering how to get this working, and it was rather confusing for me as well. So, i decided to write up a guide on how to get this specific game working with ps2classics placeholder.

What You'll Need:
NTSC-US ISO for FFXII
NTSC-J ISO for FFXII:IZJS
LIMG - http://pl.rghost.net/44887047
HxD - http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/
ImgBurn - http://www.imgburn.com/
FFXII:IZJS English Patch V.22 - http://www.ff12.pl/ff12-media.html (second link)
Windows Calculator
Notepad++ - http://notepad-plus-plus.org/

1)First and foremost, you will need to patch your ISO of IZJS for the English patch. I'm not going to write out a guide for it, since it's included with the FAQ for the patch.

2) Open your patched copy of IZJS with ImgBurn. Note the number of Sectors on the disc.

3)Convert the number of sectors from the disc from Decimal to Hex (View -> Programmer in windows calculator) Note the number given.

4) Open LIMG using HxD.

5) on the VERY FIRST LINE replace the numbers 20 30 B0 with the numbers you noted from windows calculator.

6) open IZJS with HxD.

7) Press CTRL+A to select everything in the LIMG file in HxD, The Press CTRL+C to copy it. [DO NOT CLOSE]

8) At the VERY END of IZJS in HxD, right click and select "Paste Insert". This should put the LIMG at the very end IZJS.

9) Save IZJS. [DO NOT CLOSE]

10) IN windows explorer, right click your ISO of IZJS -> Properties.

Now this is where things can get a little confusing.

The file size (not on disk file size) needs to be divisible by 16384. You will know it is if in Standard view of calculator you do not have a decimal place. if you do, make note of the number in the decimal place. Yours most likely will not be, so we'll need to add some padding. If for some reason it is, skip the next step.

11) BEFORE the LIMG, you will need to add lines of 00's. every line you add will add 16 bytes to the file size. to know how many lines you need to add, multiply 16384 by the number from your decimal place, then divide that umber by 16. for example, i had .5. so, 16384 x .5 = 8192/16 = 512 Lines.

12) Open notepad++. Assuming you also had 512, paste in 512 lines of the following:
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
[Note that Notepad++ tells you what line you are on in the left column]

13) Copy the lines you just made, and paste them into a NEW file in HxD. All the lines you should as 00's with "......." after them. if this is what your file looks like, you have done things properly, and may continue, if not, go back and try again.

14) IN HxD in IZJS, press CTRL+F to search the document, change datatype to "Hex-Values" and set the search type to all. paste in the FIRST line from your edited LIMG, and it should bring you directly to the first line of where you pasted in the LIMG.

15) on the line DIRECTLY ABOVE that one, at the VERY END, right click and paste insert. This should paste your lines of zeros, which should appear just as it did in the new file. if after the zeros you see anything other than "......." or anything got mixed in with the zeros, try again. Save IZJS again.

16) once again, check the file size of IZJS. my final file size was 4,182,409,216. If yours differs, check to see if the file size is divisible by 16384. [Step 11]. If it is not, go back to [Step 12]

17) Assuming all went according to plan your file should now be ready to convert. Open the ps2classics GUI, open IZJS, and click ENCRYPT. if it asks to add padding, your file is not the proper size. [refer to step 11]. if it is, the GUI will likely ask to add the LIMG. CLICK NO.

Following this, everything should go according to plan, and the newly created ISO.ENC should be ready for play using your ps2classics placeholder. 2 Firmwares are confirmed to work with this game: Rogero 4.30 v2.05 which i used, and Rebug 4.30.2 which szczuru used. There are known minor sound issues with both firmwares.

Major thanks in part to szczuru for helping me to get a copy of this game working.

Enjoy.
