Did some searching but didnt find many solutions to this. My ps3 slim (cech21xx) is running rogero 4.40 v1.02 with multiman. Everytime I play a game whether off the internal or external drive, the game will freeze after some time and several lines and artifacts will appear on screen in many colors.
. Occasionally it will simply just freeze without the colored lines depending on the game. Audio seems to continue normally but controller becomes unresponsive. At this point I can either press power to turn off or I hold power down if I need to. 1st play through I played 14 minutes, 2nd playthrough I got about 10 minutes.
I have heard this is GPU related and may require reball or reflow. Most of the time this problem occurs mainly for fat ps3's, at least that's what i've read. After buying the console I did send it to get downgraded. Service claimed to include new thermal paste when doing the downgrade so I thought i'd be good in the overheating department. Plus I know not many slims have the overheat issue. Console was working fine for months until this started happening and I haven't opened the console.
