Smart phones

for a few days about a year ago i thought it would be a good idea to try to repair , unlock, and resale smart phones until i realized how many issues a person can run into with used phones because of the security features, there are so many people already doing it on the side because they run a smart phone store, or work at a smart phone store and have access to the id numbers of broke smart phones or other people phones, somtimes i want to try to buy a used iphone cheap and try my luck but then why try to get into dong something you have to sell soon because it looses most of its value in 12 months

i have done a few apple tv's and ipods that me or someone in my family got for a gift, jailbreak is the term i remember being used for apple devices, maybe the group or groups that were usually working on the apple hacks coined the term jailbreak

i always read about rooting as being like gaining super user abilities on a device

are these words that we use like jailbreak and rooting terms coined by groups at certain times in the past for certain devices

if so does that mean we can call it which ever is more popular
or rooting more like gaining super user abilities and jailbreak is more like a exploit

maybe the truth is that everyone just wishes i would shut up because there is no point in debating some things like this

PS3 slim CECH2004B turn on and turn off after 10sec

Hello!!!
I power on my ps3 and after cca 10sec 3 beep and power led(red) is blikning.
So i press power button once and then get normal red light( standby)
press again and after 10 sec again same.
I try to get service menu by holding power button i get picture, wait for 1-2 min and restart system (1) and now is all good.
if i restart and power again LOOK XBM and ps3 is working.
And everything is ok but if i turn off and try after 10-15 min, same.
Few times i get screen for HDMI setup, but just secound... turn off.
My PSU is EDAP220BB
I try with APS 270 but same.

Please help!!

Trying to find someone to jailbreak my console please!

Hi there, everyone.

I recently bought a Slim PS3 which is a CECH-2503a with a date code of 0D, which apparently can be jailbroken, I've tried that "update" thing that says "Update data of version 3.50 or later can be installed on this system. (8002F967)"

So, it can be downgraded and done.
My issue lies with cost... I can't afford a €70 E3 flasher or something like that, the PS3 right now is on latest OFW. Is there anyone in Ireland willing to do this for cheap enough? If it's €50 or less I am totally down with it. I really want a jailbroken PS3 for PS2 emulation (if that exists, y'know, injecting roms into the official emulator that exists) or whatever. I'm not bothered with using it for online stuff, as it won't be needed. I have another PS3 slim that cannot be jailbroken as it's lowest firmware is 3.66.

I'd love to hear back from you all soon, thank you for reading.

Ps3 after IHS replacing. Weird problem

Hi everyone, so I have CECHL04 console which I putted off IHS to change thermal paste for the first time. And there comes a problem, because my ps3 turned on normal for the first time, but I checked it again and now I have a problem like on this video:

What could causes this problem? Has anybody seen something like that before?

Okey nevermind, I solved the problem by reattaching 4 pin cable from socket on motherboard while the PS3 was running (I don't know why a did that but it solved my problem and now the PS3 works nice :p )

It's me again I have the same problem as I wrote. I checked with another PSU and it isn't mae the problem. May be I have to reflow mobo?

Where is a Ground point on a Slim PS3 to connect a anti-static wrist strap ?

hi hax members , i got a electric air blower that is mains powered and i want to use it on my Slim PS3's. I have to wear a anti-static wrist strap and attach the alligator clip to a ground point , where is the ideal place to clip it on my Slim PS3's ?


also if i'm correct i should disassemble the PSU plastic casing then slot it in the motherboard and connect the cable to the motherboard. This way i can clean the fan/heatsink and PSU in one go.

Hey everyone! Thanks for taking the time to look at my post here. I am completely new to the Playstation modding community. I had a guy mod a PS3 that i got for free off craigslist because the blue-ray drive isn't working. Model # CECH-2001A if needed. I don't know a whole lot about this Multiman, when i go into the file browser the version says mmCM04.81.02
If anyone could link me to a good video tutorial for a walkthrough with jailbroken ps3 UI that would be amazing. The main reason i posted this thread is because i am having somewhat of a difficult time transferring games i have downloaded to the internal hard drive of the ps3. It's mostly been a guessing game and some work and some don't. I am downloading everything except ps3 games from emuparadise. So whatever format they come in is what i try to use. For example i have download Digimon World 4 for ps2. Its in a .iso format but the playstion refuses to recognize it. What should i be looking for when downloading psx,ps2,ps3, and psp games? Any specific format they should be in? I am just completely at a standing point with this. I understand that there is probably another post on here that would explain everything but i am having a hard time locating it so please bare with me.

  1. How do i download dlc's and install them?
  2. What should i be looking for when downloading psx,ps3,ps3,psp games?
  3. Can you link me to a good video or forum page that explains fundamental basics?
  4. What should the root of my flash drive look like?

the model of the board is KTE-001 and the model CECH-3004A

I already solder(very poorly by the way, noob :laugh:) to the board the connector, but the led wont turn on.. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I solder to the gray part of the board, may be why it didn't make no difference..

Screen freeze/w white lines

So I had a working cech2501a, I carefully disassembled and removed the usb ports because one was broken. I cleaned and soldered new usb ports. I also got my 3 dumps checked all 3 and patched 1 and flashed it. Now I reassembled and when I booted it up got to the xmb fine. BUT.....when I connected the controller to usb port it connected the controller but the screen froze with white lines. The only way I could get it to shut off was hold the power button down. I guess what I am asking is how can I narrow down what the problem might be?

I purchased this mod menu & put it on a ps3 for someone. I used my psn login to confirmed it worked. I then gave it back to the person but now it's not working. I've updated the ip address from were I bought it

How do I get it working again?

ps3 disc loading problems

hi guys,

long time since i been here and how is everyone?went to play black op2 on my ps3 last week and it would not load.clock symbol in top right corner kept spinning around and then drive made a noise as if to eject the disc but did not,game did not load.if i tilt the ps3 up at the front slighty the game will load.i reqad that this was due to a dying laser so i bought a new carriage and laser (kem 450 baa)and put that in.game worked a few times now the same problem is happening again.

anyone any idea as to what is wrong and how to fix it.many thanks in advance?

PS2 Upscaling on PS3 Tech Question

I have a CECHA01 (US Launch 60 GB model) PS3, with the full hardware backwards compatibility setup (PStwo's EE+GS chip).

It has always been my understanding that you have a choice of either using the game source at the native 480i, and have the PS3 use its upscaler to output 1080p from that source - OR the native progressive scan output option for select games (e.x. 480p in God of War 2, Gran Turismo 4, etc). When using a progressive scan output, the PS3 will not be able to use its upscaler.

However, I'm getting a report from someone claiming their PAL second generation system - CECHC04 (EU Launch 60GB model), with the partial BC support (PStwo GS chip only), can indeed upscale to 1080p from a 480p source PS2 game.

Anyone else have any experience with this?

Problem Reading Certain Discs on a CECHA01 fat PS3

How's it going guys. I recently bought a CECHA01 fat ps3 so i could get the full backwards compatibility. Its running on the Version 4.6 firmware.

The problem I'm having is reading discs. It will read PS3 games, Blu-Ray movies, PS1 games, Music CD's and blue bottomed PS2 games all fine. Movie DVDs are hit and miss, some work some don't. The other problem with it is it will not read Silver bottom PS2 games.

So far to fix it i have restarted it, then went into safe mode and went down the list one by one of Restore Default Settings, Restore File System, Rebuild Database and finally Restore PS3 System. Beyond that I have vacuumed it out through the vents, when that didn't help I opened it vacuumed it and sprayed compressed air to get rid of any dust.

None of this worked so i finally opened up the Blu-ray drive and cleaned the lens directly. After cleaning the lens I fired it up and its the exact same thing, everything read except Silver DVD PS2 discs and some/ most of my movie DVDs.

I was curious if anyone knows of any software problems it might have or is it most likely that i need a new lens / Blu-ray drive. Thanks guys for your help.

CECHE01 MG with KES-410A only reads PS1 discs before and after laser replacement

Hi all,

I can't find the answer to my particular problem anywhere. I've successfully replaced lasers in my CECHA01 and my CECHE01 which both had KES-400A single lasers in them.

The CECHE01 MG I just picked up has the KES-410A dual laser in it. When I got it I tried playing a DVD and a PS1 game but neither worked. I noticed that I didn't hear the disc seating.

So I took it apart (it had been opened before) and found that the two holes were blocked. I put it back together without the holes blocked, and lo and behold, a scratched PS1 Tomb Raider II disc worked. However, PS2 and PS3 games did not work. Back to square one.

I tried restoring the file system. No luck. I tried resetting the Blu Ray drive by holding down the eject button, no dice. So I decided to get a new laser and replaced it.

So I put in the same PS1 disc (scratched Tomb Raider II), and it would get to the home screen but this time it would not start or load a game. So I put in an unscratched Micro Machines V3 and that worked fine.

So I go to try PS2 and PS3 games but despite replacing the laser, they still didn't work. (I didn't try a DVD this time).

I'm having a hard time finding an answer to this particular problem because if I search for PS3 only reads PS1 discs, I only find results stating that I need to replace the laser.

Well now that I've done that, and I am getting the same results of my PS3 only reading PS1 discs, I'm wondering if there could be some other problem not caused by laser malfunction that I am unaware of.

So is there some other problem that causes these symptoms and if so, can you help me resolve it? Thank you!

Not sure. Just recently formatted as a troubleshooting step.

If it is a software problem, have you made sure that you have downloaded the latest version of this software?

If so, do you know why it's bricked?

Have you ever downgraded your console with hardware flashers? (Teensy, ProgSkeet, E3 Flasher, etc...)
No. Didn't have to since I am almost certain this is a hardware issue.

Have you tried searching the forum for someone experiencing the same problem before posting?
Yes, but none match my specific symptoms.

Describe your problem:
A couple years ago my PS3 started showing graphical glitches on screen - mainly texture stretching. Now on the XMB the icons are flashing around the borders and I can see stretching on the background as well. I stopped running it after I noticed it a few years ago. I replaced the thermal compound, but it didn't solve anything. When I turn it on, I am not getting the YLOD or RLOD, but the system regularly freezes on startup and takes a few tries for it to boot into XMB. I do NOT hear the fan running at all and it's possible that the fan stopped running when I started noticing the graphical errors. I didn't think to notice it at the time.

What have you tried to do to resolve this issue yourself:
-Replace thermal compound

Edit: So I finally took the PS3 apart and started her up... the fan DOES spin. Sorry for the misinformation, but it is spinning so slowly that I couldn't hear it and thought it was broken

The problem still exists because the fan never gets above this very slow speed.

SACD Ripper and CFW

I have a couple of questions that I hope someone will know or have the answer for. First question is, If I install CFW like the new Rebug release over my 3.55 firmware that I currently have the SACD Ripper Application on will Rebug render it useless? The second question is why when I tried to install it did I get the error saying that I had the incorrect version of Rebug and make it so part of the installation wouldn't work?

CECH-2504B Bluray drive/logic no power

Hi I have a CECH-2504B with a dead BD drive, logic board and drive is not getting any power as I can't install any firmware other than noBD. This model has a integrated logic board that I suspect it's not receiving any power.

From what I've gathered the whole BD system is powered through thermistor TH7601, I've checked it for continuity and it checks fine, I've checked all fuses and thermistors, they are fine.

This must be a cold solder joint as wheh the system is cold the drive works for a minute then as it warms up it stops, though I have noBD firmware some games still need the BD system to work for it to run God of War III is one of them.

When the drive is working during that brief period I get the BD icon on the XMB and can launch the game, after the ps3 has warmed up if I launch a game through mmCM then the icon won't show up and I have to launch with the game folder menu. When the drive stops working GOWIII returns to XMB, for example.

This is definately a hardware problem, I've read cases of other people with the same problem on the same model but no solution.

What I ask here is if any one knows what voltage should be present at TH7601, where does it come from, or atleast if anyone tells me what voltage should be there, I could tap in that voltage from somewhere else to try to feed the BD circuits to make it work again.

Button Remapping

Hey guys,

I have been trying to make PS3XPAD work for me for the past 5 hours, and I still haven't gotten anywhere. I followed everything on the wiki, I put the plugins folder where it's supposed to be, so it is dev_hdd0/plugins/ps3xpad/, and pointed the boot_plugins.txt which is located on the root of dev_hdd0 to the xpad_vsh.sprx in the ps3xpad folder, rebooted PS3, and the "XPAD Loaded (VSH)" popup does not show at all after my Webman, PSNPatch plugin, and my CCAPI plugin show up! I am on 4.81 Rebug DEX, and all I want to do is just remap the buttons for Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 so I can freaking use the Jap controls instead of the US controls (I want O for hit and X for jumping, not vice versa) on my regular wireless Dualshock 3. This is literally the whole reason I even switched from CEX to DEX. I don't know how to make this work at all, so if anyone can give me any instructions, that would be appreciated!

EDIT: So I got the PS3XPAD to work, so now, on to my next issue! The debug eboots! I'm trying to use TrueAncestor Resigner to make debug eboots of 2.5 (that's the game I'm trying to test first), but for some reason, it won't work. I have the game on my HDD, not in disc format, so I just go to the game folder in my GAMES folder, get the eboot in the USRDIR folder, take it to the resigner, do option 11 resign to NPDRM Eboot, then, put it back in the game folder and start the game, which gives me the "An error occurred during the start operation. (80010009)" error. I also tried debugging the selfs in the game since there are two, but that didn't do it either. I need the debug eboots to be able to do button remapping. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Please help me. I've been sitting here trying to figure this **** out for hours now.

(I have a jailbroken ps3 on rebug 4.81.2 cex)


I went into multiman, and connected my ps3 to my pc using filezilla, and installed GTA 5 (BLES01807) like I always do.

I copied it to dev_hdd0/GAMES (like I always do) and it transferred over just fine.

So I went back to the ps3 and tried to update it to 1.27 (like I always do) and for some reason it said the latest version is already installed. Witch is strange, since it never says that. It usually just lets me update.

So I figured, okay, let me just move on then.
So I load up gta 5 and wait for it to install, and everything installed fine, and it brought me to the bank robbery scene.

So thats when I usually quit he game, go into rebug toolbox, then connect my pc to my ps3 using filezilla, and go into dev_hdd0/game/BLES01807/USRDIR and copy in my mod menu files.
(update.rpf and EBOOT.BIN files)

However, when I went into USRDIR It was completely empty. There where no files in there.

So I put in the mod menu update.rpf and the EBOOT.BIN files in anyway, and when I load up gta 5 the mods don't work. Nothing happens when I press the button combo I need to press.

It's never done this before, this has always worked before now.

WHY IS USRDIR EMPTY, AND HOW DO I FIX IT?

Ive already tried updating gta 5 with the 1.27 update pkg file with a usb.
I've already tried uninstalling gta 5 from my pc and my ps3, then re-downloading it to my pc, and then re-installing it to my ps3.

And I've already tried restoring my ps3's hdd. and re-doing everything. and the gta 5 usrdir is still empty! and my mods don't work!

What do I do??? I've never had this issue before. Help would be very much appreciated.

I tried signing into psn and the error 80023017 keeps coming up. I can't sign in. Someone please tell me what that error means!!!!

PS- This ps3 has just been converted from dex to cex today. And yes my mod menu is for 1.27, and is for CEX. These are the mods I always use.
