I got a Weird Drive Problem

so i got a ps3 from a friend it would not read discs
my first thought was laser .
after i put in the new laser i found it still would not read.
i opened it back up and found that the laser was indeed turning on and off but was not spinning the disc.
so i started playing with the switches and loading the the disc in and out.

if i put the disc in with the deck not up holding the disk, but have the switch triggered so it thinks the disk is in. it will spin the drive motor for the disk and try to read the disc. but if the deck is up it will try and read the disc but not try to spin.... wtf is going on..

i know its kinda hard to get what i just tried to type . i can post a video if need be
