What motivated you to Pirate?

What i'm asking is how did you become a pirate? not saying you do it often but what event caused you to commit your first dirty act :questionmark:

i shall go first. . . my story starts with the pc and dates back to 2007

I had my pc a few months but the whole experience was still brand new to me. All I did on it was use yahoo to chat, I couldn’t really watch porn because I had dial up so no internet masturbation for me and even pictures loaded slow as hell so it would be a total waste. Fast forward I’m out at the store and I see a demo for the game Crysis, I was excited a whole new realm opened up for me I purchased the magazine so that I could try the demo. When I arrived home I slid the cd into my disc drive and nothing; it would not load. Come to find out you need a graphics card to make these games work, my journey came to a standstill at that point all the required thinks I needed would take time to get because I’d have to save money. We fast forward to September 2008, I have ditched the dial up for some high speed cable internet “thankkkkk goddddd” I had still intended to play Crysis but a new expansion had come out called Crysis:Warhead, So I decided to purchase this first and then get into the original game at a later point. Yes I forgot to mention I did start to get into porn, but I was still a newb so I had no idea there were free video sites you could watch it on; so I would just go from site to site looking at free previews hoping maybe someone would drop some info on a forum or something.

We fast forward I beat the game some time ago and the game now sits in my drawer I thought to myself I should give the online portion a whirl. I go to put the disc in only to discover you need a serial code to play the online portion. I search endlessly for this damn code that I’m somehow expected to hold onto until the end of time, well yeah I lost it so I guess that method was out the window. I go to call EA thinking it would be as easy as telling them I lost my serial could they please replace it. The lady basically tells me she refuses to help me because I could have pirated the material, at the time I was fairly new to all this pc gaming stuff so I didn’t really even know what game piracy was. After she claimed I was a pirate there was a long silence; followed by me asking could I email her a pic of the booklet, case and two disc. After I was rejected and hung up I was so mad, I had this game that I purchased but could not play; at that moment I became exactly what EA claimed I was.

I was now motivated to try anything to get the game I paid for to work, I went online searching the web for serials, torrents, all this stuff that was foreign to me not just a moment ago. Because of EA labeling me and putting restrictions on an item I purchased they led me right into the arms of the people that supposedly hurt their profits. I don’t look at the warez scene as a bunch of insufferable people who refuse to pay because their cheap, I look at it as a bunch of people who got tired of being treated like common criminals and children and said let’s give them what they want. Had I not went to these scummy pirates I would have never played a game I purchased again, so I ask again who really is the criminal.
