I am interesting in learning to program for the PS3. I have programmed primarily in a Windows environment in the past, and more recently I registered as an XNA programming for the Xbox.
I am a full time college student studying Biological Sciences (Planning to be a Genetic Engineer), but I am going to take the Summer off to get back into programming for a bit. I might even add programming as a major, but I would really prefer to not take programming classes at a university if I can avoid it.
I have installed a Virtual Machine of Ubuntu to learn writing C++ programs under Linux (Is there is a different distro I should use instead?) and I want to learn first about how to write something to view the encrypted hard drive contents and then learn how to write Homebrew for the PS3.
Keeping in mind that I am unfamiliar with programming in either the Linux or PS3 environment, are there any references I can look into for learning at a beginner level? Or are there more advanced guides for if I just need to practice Linux programming first? (I already have the books and tools for learning).
Thanks.
