Hi I wanted to share my experience upgrading my ps3 slims internal hard drive from 120gb to 1tb and needed advice on one particular issue.
I got a 1tb hard drive which met the form factors required 2.5" 9.5mm, ran the back up utility and restored my back up.
I was on 4.21.1 Rebug and used the latest 4.21.2 Rebug update pup for the hard drive install.
The games I had backed up on my original hard drive where transfered, so where my psone downloads and looks like all of the game data folder was also transfered. This included updates, patches and also installed data.
My Ps3 game saves where not backed up, so far the only homebrew that carried over and worked was multiman, rogereo manager failed and it seems a couple of my psn games after transfer don't work, might try repatching if thats whats caused it. EDIT - Infact I think this is my error as I don't think I replace my homebrew, psn games after upgrading from 3.55 to 4.21.
There was some audio problems with multiman so I went to setting and re did the hdmi and audio setting this seems to have resolved the issue.
My question (not really a question just want confirmation on what I suspect I already know) as the hard drive I backed up is currently in a anti static bag and is basically untouched can I reinstall it and copy my saves to usb then go back to the 1tb all right?
Overall though the experience of upgrading the hard drive was painless, a lot quicker then expected (had a 70gb back up file took 2 hours to get off and an hour to get on) has been relatively quick.
If like me you have an external drive with backups transfering via usb seems very quick. 6gbs took about 5minutes to do, 11gigs looks likes it's going to take about 10 minutes, so I might set up an ftp so that I can cue up a few games and let it go to work for an hour. Edit - Infact multimans multiple copy function in mmos seems to be fine for cueing up my transfers.
