HDMI TO DVI HELP

I am connecting my PS3 Slim 120GB to my LG L194WT monitor with a HDMI to DVI cable, when i power on the PS3 (monitor powered on/standby mode) the monitor recognizes the PS3 and turns on but the screen stays black. When I power off the ps3 the monitor recognizes that the PS3 has been turned off and goes into standby mode. I think the problem is accruing because the resolution on the PS3 is set too high, I have tried holding down the power button to set the PS3 to the lowest resolution possible but it still stays black. I am aware that if the monitor does not have HDCP you can not connect the PS3 to the monitor unless you use HDFury but the LG L194WT monitor does have HDCP.
