It's been quite a while since I had dusted off my PS3, so I'm not sure which firmware I left off on last. When I boot the PS3, I get the codename rebug splash on the right hand side.
When I go to system info, it displays Version 3.55..doesn't say anything about Rebug. Is this normal? With internet enabled, I'm prompted for PS3 updates, is there a tutorial in order to update to 3.55.2 safely? From what I've read, there is a 3.55.1 (is that what I'm on now, standard rebug = 3.55.1?) and 3.55.2 - which nulls all Sony addresses to prevent accidental updating and calling home. Is this an unofficial patch - is it a bad idea to use, how can I apply it safely and is it smarter just to block addresses in my router (anyone have that old master list floating around?)
