ok so i have been having a few problems with retroarch. i wanted to see what all the hype was about that pokemon liquid crystal rom hack. the first small issue is that when i start the emu it never seems to save my controller configuration. i swap the A and B buttons to X and O and save the config, yet every time i restart the emu it never saves it. not a huge problem but just a little annoyance. if i use just VBA it works as it should.quit vba, restart and my settings are the same as i set them
the second problem is with the save game paths, in that the default paths are set to dev_hdd0/game/ssneXXXX/USRDIR/. i have my rom file on a usb stick USB0/roms/GBA/ and when i save in the game it saves it to the same folder the game rom is in. i copied the save file to a different folder on the usb, deleted the one in the GBA folder, started the game, created a new save file (to test if the paths were changed after i set the paths to a different folder on the usb) and it doesnt change, save files are still in the GBA folder were the rom is. not really a big problem, BUT, when i try to copy back my original save file to the GBA folder, start the game, it doesnt recognize it and sets me up with a new game.
the third problem is with cheats. i wanted to see if i could get cheats to work. in the retroarch settings menu under paths it says .cht files are set to dev_hdd0/game/ssneXXXX/USRDIR/. i googled for cheats for the game, then googled how to make a cht file with the cheat codes i found, and all i could find was to use VBA pc emulator and use that to make the cheat file. i did just that, tested the cheats in the pc vba, all worked fine, BUT, the pc emu saved the cheat file as a .clt file. arg! so googling away of how to convert a .clt to a cht file left me nowhere. i tried one tip of just making a txt file with the cheats and change the extension to cht, but in all honesty i dont even see how to activate cheats in retroarch, been through every menu option and the only reference to cheats ive seen id the directory path. i try out the vba ps3 stand alone emulator and it doesnt have any reference to cheats, witch leads me to believe that the cheat option in retroarch is just in there as default for other emulators like nes/snes and the vba doeant actually support it. so its all just a huge waste of time?lol
ive had it with retroarch, i dont see any real benefit of having a multi emulator over a standalone that doesnt save setting changes and has misleading menu path options for cheats:(
