Failed e3 flasher attempt

Greetings folks, I've been reading around quite a lot and have pretty much concluded that I have the YLOD but I wanted to be certain by asking your opinion.

Here's what happened:

Bought a used ps3 slim (Model# CECH 2001A) (worked well, a bit dirty but I cleaned it)

Bought a E3 NOR Flasher, had a whole lot of fun figuring out exactly which way it needed to put onto the samsung chip. Especially considering pressure had to be applied. In this process I removed and replaced the heat sink's four times. I went ahead and cleaned all the old thermal paste of and added new on the last go around (making sure not to use too much).

Everything was going smooth this time. I was working through the process of downgrading from 4.1 to 3.55 using the latest files from the e3 site. I was only able to successfully backup the current bios. When I got to the point of unlocking the bios it made it through two blue LED indicators before going into a flashing mode of 10001111. I found that very odd considering I didn't think I was writing anything but since it was unlocking it could very well be. At this point the system was running fine although it seemed a little warm. I went ahead and powered it down and unplugged it for a few minutes.

When I plugged it back in and powered it on it gave me the YLOD behavior. Powers on fine, three short beeps and then it powers off with a flashing red light. I went ahead and did the YLOD heat gun fix since it felt warm but I haven't re-thermal compounded the chips and put it all back together.

Now that I'm thinking about it and considering the fun I had figuring out that the ribbon/clip (E3) is a bit of a pain to get seated properly I might have just corrupted the bios. Do you think this is the case? (ultimately I'll find out if was the crappy solder problem in a few hours).
